Days 108 – 114

I’ve finally been able to update the 365(ish) album with days 108 – 114. The last few weeks have been very busy and it didn’t help to have a slow and intermittent internet connection, however the updates are back and I hope to post almost daily once again.

Day 108 – ‘Time for a Red Bull’ I had been writing my CV that evening and lacking a little inspiration so decided to visit the bar with my netbook hoping different surroundings would help, it did. Sitting at a table in the corner with a hot chocolate and the occasional helpful word from people around I soon managed to write something I was happy with.
Day 109 – ‘I’m going to eat you little fishy…’ A 6′ bubble lamp complete with it’s own plastic fish.
Day 110 – ‘Peekaboo I see you’ I decided to sort through some old clothes and see what could be donated to a charity shop. Moo was peeking out from behind the pile.
Day 111 – ‘Grazing’ As the weather was so nice I visited Derwent Dam (home of the Dambusters)  This wild sheep kept following me around, though always keeping a safe distance.
Day 112 – ‘Abandoned factory’ Another free day and this time I thought a visit around an old abandoned factory was in order. This room had me engrossed for almost an hour with so much beauty in it’s destruction.
Day 113 – ‘Welcome to Jurassic Park’ A dinosaur soft toy which was once one of Gens favourites.
Day 114 – ‘On Guard’ Being a collie Gen loves to guard her territory and often stands at the gate barking at passers by.

As this is a large update I won’t include the images in this post. Please click here to jump straight to day 108.

Challenge me

Tomorrow will be day 91 of my 365 photo challenge and I’m opening it up for the next 9 days to take it to 100.

All I need is a word, item or product that is domestically available and see if I can meet the challenge. Please also feel free to suggest all 9.

Thank you

Flood alert 25th November 2012

The building my home is located in was once a factory and has now been converted into around 40 flats. It backs straight on to the River Rother in Chesterfield and is usually no more than 60 cm’s deep (approx 2′) At 4 am I was woken by my flatmate to warn me the river had risen extremely high and I should think about moving my car to a higher location. This is a shot of the river at 9:30 am and is around 2.5 meters deep with another 50 cm’s clearance before it would start to flood the car park and surrounding buildings. I recorded a video to show friends and a small tree came sailing under the bridge!

Trixie

I went for a walk with 3 friends and their 4 dogs. I didn’t take Gen as being almost 13 she’s a little bit too old to keep up with 4 other highly active dogs, and even at her age she would give them a good run. This is Trixie, she was having a few minutes alone when I caught the perfect shot of her cheeky face. Taken at Holmebrook Valley Park, near Chesterfield / Derbyshire.

Derbyshire Lost | Gold 7

Shot in October 2008. One morning I was woken early and unable to sleep again decided to throw on some clothes jump in the car and capture a sunrise. As I lived less than 5 miles from Linacre woods and reservoir I thought it would be the perfect place to visit, though I was a little under dressed and unprepared for just how cold clear autumn mornings can be. Much of the area was covered in dew and even better a layer of ice covered the walk way which goes around the top (third) reservoir.

The full quality version of this image has since been lost and now only exists in a lower quality form, however please do click here to view in lightbox mode on Flickr.

Derbyshire Lost | Gold 6

To my friends and followers outside the UK you may be unaware of the record amount of rain we’ve received which has caused flooding and sadly several deaths. Today (Sunday 15th July 2012) was one of the few rather rare days of summer and I walked my dog around Linacre woods & reservoir. As I didn’t have a camera on me, which is quite a rare occurrence I thought I’d share this photo from March 2011.
