Rocket – Dog photo session

Early September it was my pleasure to do a photo shoot with Rocket. He was the winner of the ‘best in show’ class at the Inkerman Buzz fair this summer, the prize was one hour photo session. He’s a very cheeky fun filled little pup with a personality of dogs twice his size, within minutes of meeting him he was bringing me toys to play with…it was quite hard not to give in and play with him!

Pet photo sessions are available please visit the Pet Photo page for more information.

Days 179 – 181

Day 179 A&B – ‘Resting doves’ I’m currently staying at my parents house for a fortnight to look after Gen while they are away on holiday. One afternoon I was looking out of the front bedroom window at nothing in particular when I suddenly spotted this pair of doves. After shooting several photos I returned my camera to the bedroom and spotted them again at the back of the house.
Day 180 – ‘Vivid clouds’ On our afternoon walk around Ashover rock while Gen decided to explore a side field I thought I’d get a few pictures of the clouds on the cheap & cheerful Fuji point and shoot, I didn’t expect to get anything good but was amazed when I got home and saw how vivid the clouds were.
Day 181 – ‘Another early morning!’ (thanks to Gen) I do try not to repeat anything on the photo a day challenge, though sometimes it’s difficult when a better view presents itself. This is the same view as Day 173, but much more stunning.

Days 150 – 152

The weather has finally turned pleasent and spring has finally arrived here in the UK (just in time for the start of summer) Having a 4 day break from work, I’ve naturally been out everyday with Gen and my camera.

Day 150 – ‘Crooked Spire’ The Saint Marys and all Saints church in Chesterfield has a spire which is twisted and leaning by 45 degrees. The sky was also an amazing mixture of perfect blue and black clouds.
Day 151A – ‘Dandelion’ I was walking Gen around Williamthorpe ponds and wanted to capture a dandelion blowing in the wind.
Day 151B – ‘Scared of water!’ Having such a thick double coat Gen was struggling in the heat. I cut the walk short but took her to the stream for a drink. Unfortunately being the only dog that hates water she scared herself and scuttled away.
Day 152 – ‘What to do?’ I couldn’t decide if I wanted to read the excellent Prozac Nation once more or watch some good old fashioned British slapstick in the form of Bottom.

Day 98 – Light trails

Day 98 – Light trails.

Today’s update was quite a rushed attempt to be honest. Usually with this type of shot I would spend time getting the perfect image, however here in the UK the temperature hasn’t gone risen above 1c for several days. Standing on the frosty bridge with a icy wind blowing around me I found it hard to focus on the task and after 20 minutes called it a day.

Usually working in these conditions doesn’t present a problem and I have shot some of my best pet photography stood in ice covered fields with chapped hands, a playful dog and a desire for a tasty hot chocolate.

Day 97 Sunday

Day 97 – Sunday

I was asked to work today as we were going to be short staffed, which meant I didn’t have much day light left to get today’s image. I originally intended to venture out in to one of the many country parks that surround Chesterfield and hopefully get a snow themed picture had I been free for the day.

97A – Walking home at 4pm I took a detour and came across this traditional looking door with a cast iron style letter box, the actual colour of the door is a very bold red but sadly my Fuji point & shoot couldn’t capture this in the fading light.

97B – Passing through the yard of the World famous Crooked Spire church (Saint Mary and All Saints – Reverend Michael Knight!) here in Chesterfield I couldn’t resist another snow covered shot of it. The spire really does lean quite a lot and it’s an amazing sight to see. Also featured on day 37.

Derbyshire Lost | Gold 13

In place of today’s 365 image I’m returning the Lost | Gold feature for the first time since December 2012. This image was taken in October 2008 at Padley Gorge, sadly it only exists in a low resolution form now but I hope to return this spring to update the album.

The unnatural looking colours are totally untouched thanks to the low autumn sun that afternoon and a very spongy moss type grass.

The weekend – days 91 & 92

This weekend I spent my Saturday night watching a couple of bands at Real Time Live. A music store below during the day and also a live music venue during the evenings. Both images were shot just a few hours apart on my Galaxy SII phone which is why the are very ‘noisy’

Day 91 – Saturday. I’d was invited to watch a friends husbands band called Bad Robot play at Real Time Live and was amazed just how much I love the night. The 2 bands I saw rocked the place and it was such a friendly atmosphere.

Day 92 – Sunday. Walking home after midnight I passed this electricity sub-station which has had this piece of graffiti drawn on it for a few years and I’ve always wanted to use it in some form or other. As it was after midnight and technically a new day I thought this would make a perfect inclusion especially as it summed up just how friendly and chilled all the people I’d met were.

Day 55 – Enjoying the snow & Sleeping dogs lie…

Day 55 is another multi photo update. I couldn’t decide which photo I wanted to use most, though 55B is my favourite.

55A – Enjoying the snow. We had yet another covering of snow today (Wednesday 13/2/13) and I took Gen for a short walk on Grassmoor country park. Even though she’s aged around 13 years old she acts like a raggedy puppy in the snow.

55B – 1 hour later we were back home and Gen drifted off to sleep on one of her rugs as we watched tv.
