Cat Watcher II

March

Due to working on other projects over the last few months I’ve been neglecting this site recently. I thought it was time to share one of my favourite pictures of Gen in collie mode. She was sat in my car waiting for me to set off when she spotted a neighbours cat strutting across the bottom of the drive. Just after I took this Gen growled and managed a half bark to warn it away (naturally from the safety of my car!)

Days 120 – 123

Days 120 – 123 provided both a challenge and a lucky escape for me. I’m currently focusing on live music photography and putting together a package which I think is both fair and reasonable as an introductory offer. As my attention has been diverted slightly 365 has been at the back of my mind, especially as I now need to focus on my future more now than ever.

Day 120 – ‘April showers’ After a rain storm the sky suddenly cleared to reveal a perfect orange sunset against a moody background. While fighting the autofocus I switched to full manual to capture the rain drops in sharp detail.
Day 121 – ‘AED 1940 – RW’ This was carved into a stone near Ashover rock and had me suddenly intrigued as to who AED and RW were. Maybe AED was killed while fighting in the war or perhaps the initials of a childhood sweetheart unaware of the horrors happening across Europe and the industrial areas of Britain.
Day 122 – ‘Little fluffy clouds’ Walking Gen on a perfect spring afternoon I glanced up and couldn’t help but be inspired by the clear blue sky.
Day 123 – ‘Gens curly coat’ While trying to capture a perfect macro shot of a Bee sitting a flower Gen suddenly appeared and scared it off. She took that moment to stand and take a break, her perfectly scruffy coat picked out by the late afternoon sun.

Days 88 & 89

Day 88 was Wednesday and as usual I went to the Geek Quiz at Chandlers bar in Chesterfield, also as usual I was almost late due to my posting updates here and by the time I got to the bar my team already had the maximum 5 members. I teamed up with Ruth to form Moose & Trout (thanks!) and this is our quiz sheet, we managed a rather respectable 9 out of 25 points and came 8th place and very much last.

Day 89 – ‘Grassmoor sunset II’ Thursday and it was my friend Amandas 26th birthday and the card** I’d ordered her had finally arrived. As I needed to deliver the card anyway I stopped at my parents house to collect my phone charger and managed to capture this wonderful sunset.

**The card featured the photo of her dog Dinky used in the 2013 PAWS for Charity book.

Days 82 – 86

I’ve had another busy few days and am finally able to post days 82 – 86.

Day 82 – ‘After the rain’ Here in the UK the weather has been very changeable recently and after a heavy shower the sky suddenly cleared to produce this beautiful image.

Day 83 – ‘In memory IV’ Another memorial shot that I’ve wanted to use for a few weeks surrounded by the recent snow fall.

Day 84 – ‘Don’t forget the chocolates’ The day before Mothers day (in the UK) and I knew I’d forget to take the box of chocolates from our fridge, the card and flowers we safely by the door.

Day 85 – ‘Sub zero walk’ I took Gen for her usual Sunday walk around Ashover rock and the wind chill added to the freezing conditions made this a very cold half an hour. It was almost impossible to get a steady shot due to being buffeted by the very strong wind.

Day 86 – ‘Winter sunset’ Walking home from work and I managed to capture this very moody sunset image.

Day 48 ‘Grassmoor sun set’ & ‘Derbyshire lost’

Day 48 is another multi photo update. Originally I intended to post 4 photo’s but decided to reduce it to just 2, mainly due to the quality of image produced by the less than perfect Fuji point & shoot I had with me. The weather kept changing from snow to rain and I didn’t want to risk damaging my Canon DSLR.

48A – Sun set over Grassmoor country park. It was around 3:45pm and a break in the clouds made for a perfect sunset.

48B – Derbyshire lost. The bridge in the distance once led to Williamthorpe colliery and is now the beginning of the 5 Pits trail.

Derbyshire Lost | Gold 10

North Edge Lane near Ashover  February 2009. I had a weeks holiday from work and spent every day of that week walking my collie around the area and it was hard to decide who had more fun in the snow. She can be very timid and will flinch if you sneeze near her, but throwing a snowball at her is the second best game (after her tug toy naturally)
